Couch Monster!!!!

So, another day at work with mom (I swear this is a different picture from yesterday's!)

But today I encountered the dreaded Couch Monster!!  I think you all have fought with him in the past.  One minute, I was calmly eating my breakfast, and the next thing I knew, the Couch Monster had taken possession of it!!!!

I tried sneaking up on him from behind (can you see my legs?), but he wouldn't budge...

I ended up having to holler for mom to help tackle the Monster.  She was very brave and got down on all fours (like me) and reached way into the mouth of the monster and got out my food dispenser.  Yea!

Sleep therapy...

Another day at work with mom.  I was still a bit worn out from the massive play session yesterday.   Here's me at the office working on my sleep therapy technique:

I was so focused on perfecting my sleep technique that I slept through two of mom's patients!  Whoops.  Oh well.  I'll make up for it tomorrow.  One more day at work this week and then I get 5 days off.  What can I say.  It's a dog's life!

My first full day of play...whew!

Today I got to go to that place and play all day and make bunches of new furr-iends.  They let me hang out by the front door and greet all the regulars when they came in for the day.  I got to wear this bandana to show I was the official greeter.

I made a bunch of furr-iends.

Thanks to everyone for their nice comments and encouragement about my first day. You were right.  I did fine and everyone liked me.

When mom came to pick me up, I was STILL playing.  Then I got in the nice, warm, quiet truck and fell fast asleep all the way home.  Then I took an hour nap when I got home.  Mom says, if I'm good (like I'm anything but!) this weekend, she'll let me play all day Tuesday AND Wednesday.  Most excellent.  Well, I'm still pooped, so I'm off to chew on my flossie for a bit then back to sleep.  All that playing definitely wore me out!

Rainy days and annoying grinning things...

Today was the rainiest day ever.  I found my spot where the dragon blows up nice, warm air.  Got all my toys around and was getting ready to do some destruction (don't let my innocent face fool you)...

...but Mom decided the weather wasn't bad enough to stay inside all day.  So, we went for a ride and she got me this new toy.  Which is all cool and that, but the thing just has this annoying grin.

And no matter what I tried, I just couldn't get that grin off his face...

Tomorrow is a work day.  Spending the day up at Mom's work place.  Then, Wednesday, she's taking me to that place to play all day.  Guess I've been really good to get to do that.  Hope I make some cool friends.  I'm a little nervous cuz there'll be lots of dogs bigger than me.  But I think I'll be okay.  I'll let you know how it goes.  Wish me luck!

Its almost Halloween! Time for chasing katz! Oops. Did I say that out loud?

It's been getting pretty cold at night here and Halloween is this Saturday.  Harmon, one of the katz, has been practicing her 'scary' look.  Everytime I come around, she practices this puffing, arching, hissing thing.

She doesn't scare me too much...usually.  But I've always got to keep an eye on her.

Jake is a little more mellow.  Sometimes he lets me catch him when I chase him.

Sometimes we work as a team.  Here's when I distracted mom and Jake knocked some food off the counter.

Go Team!

Work, weight, and furr-iends!

I've been going to work with mom the past few days and have been pooped when I get off work, so this is the first chance I've had to blog.  Here's a picture of me with leash & collar #2 (since I destroyed the other one):

Here's me wondering where to get my mocha at the office:

Me at my desk at work.  Okay, maybe Mom's desk...

Today, I went to the vet again to get stuck with that sharp thing and had things stuck in my ears.  My doc is a nice guy, so it wasn't bad.  There was a big Great Dane there, Wrangler.  He was cool and friendly...and huge!  They weighed me and I'm now 23.8 pounds.  Mom says thats over twice as much as what I weighed when they first brought me to my new pack a month ago!

Later today, I got a visit from my furr-iend, Nina, the German Shephard. It was such a grrr-eat surprise!!!  Here's Nina, me, and her Dad:

Me trying to get Nina to come in the sun to play:

Me showing how fast I can run:

We played hard for a good hour before she had to leave.  My pawrents were happy that I played so much because they thought it would tire me out and I would fall asleep for a while.  I don't know about that.  I'm a wired ball of energy.  I can stay awake through anything.  One little hour of playing isn't going .... to.......zzzzzzzz......

Dude, am I cool or ....

So I found out I got this award for my blog:

That's so neat!!   I got it from MurphyDog, who also has a jammin' blog!  Thanks Murph!!  Now, I think I'm supposed to send the award to other dog bloggers I know.  Definitely Nala, since she inspired me to blog and, of course, she's my sis!  Darwin is also super cool and I hope to meet up with her once I get bigger.  Khyra does some neat stuff on her blog and sends me lots of messages.  Lilo has a really cool Halloween background on her blog (I still have stuff to learn).  And Addie's blog has a bunch of cool local info on missing furr-iends, and such.  I'll have to let them all know I gave them an award.  So they need to paws- it forward too.

Mom got me my own set of keys.  She said they will help me with my 'toothing' or something.

Here's me with my first real bone.  Another thing Mom gave me for 'toothing.'

I think I mentioned last time that I keep getting new beds cuz they keep shrinking.  Mom thinks this one (my very first one) has shrunk too much, but I still like to lay on it.

You can also see in that picture that I frayed the 'indestructible' leash.  At least Mom gets a new one for free since its guaranteed.  That's it for now.   Wags to you all!

Family reunion...

The day started out like any other day.  Mom made me work for my breakfast by chasing this thing around until it pooped out all my food:

Then, I had a visit from my sister.  This was our first nose-to-nose meeting.  She was very cool and mellow...and big.  At first, I was a little freaked by how big she was, so I hid.

But she was super nice and there was no need for me to be scared.

She let me jump around all over and growl and play.  When I played too rough, she would try to eat me (just kidding, but that's what it looks like).

It was so much fun.  She even brought me a present, a cool Eggbaby Duck and some Zukes mini salmon treats, which is my favorite flavor.  I didn't want her to leave, but her and pawrents had to go.  I was sad after they left.

But it was cool that she left me something to remember her by.

Good night Nala.  Thanks for coming to visit.  Hope we can do it again soon!

Aahh... Fall in the Pacific Northwest!

What the heck is all this wet stuff all over and dripping down on me?!  When me and Mom got up this morning, it was dark and dripping wet all over.  Four hours later it was still dark and drippy out.  Even Harmon, one of the katz, was wondering what was going on.

At least she doesn't have to go out in all that wet stuff to go potty.

Then, to top off this wonderful, beautiful day, Mom and Dad drug me out to "burn off some energy."  So they took me to the usual parking lot to run around and show them how to give me treats.

Yeah, a couple more months and I won't be able to fit into one of these compact spots!!

This dude is way cool!!!

Audition

So, Mom and Dad took me to this place called Positive Approach where I had to impress this lady by playing with some new furr-iends.  That seemed weird to me, but whatever.  They said if I did well playing, then I would get to hang out there all day sometimes, play all day, and make new furr-iends.  Sounds cool to me.

The lady said I did well and that I could come back and play anytime.  She said I was very confident (of course!).   So I get to go back in a couple weeks and hang out all day while Mom works.

I've been having a little tummy ache lately with runny poop (that's probably TMI), but Mom gave me this funny colored stuff to eat.  It tastes really good and my tummy feels much better now.

That's it for now.  I spent a whole day at work yesterday and was pretty pooped when I got home.   Don't know how those humans do it.  So I'll have time this weekend to get caught up.

OH!!!  Here's some news!   I'm so excited!!!!!   I get to meet my half-sister, Nala, tomorrow.  Can't wait!  Can't wait!  She sounds very cool.  I'll definitely blog about that tomorrow

Brrrr..

It's been getting pretty chilly here at night.  Today, there's no sun to lay in, so it just feels colder.  I did find this magical thing that blows warm air.  I looked to see if a dragon was blowing the warm air, but couldn't see very far down.

There's a couple around the pack house, but I claimed this one as mine.

All that warm air has made me tired, so I'm off to nap.  Nice, lazy day today.

Stretching the legs...

This morning we went out to this big grass-less lot where I did some walking and running around.  Mom won't let me go to any parks cuz I'm not up on my shots yet and she's afraid I'll get paw-vo-vi-ruf.  But we had fun anyway walking around.

Come on Mom!  Stop slow walkin'!

I can't wait to go run around a grassy park, but Mom says it'll be a couple more months.  Ugh!  By then it'll be all cold and wet.  Us African dogs aren't into that stuff.  Mom said she'd get me a nice Columbia jacket to wear and some boots.  Hmmm...  well, maybe.  If it's the right color and doesn't make me look fat.  I have to keep my dignity, you know.

Training

Every day, I do training with Mom and Dad so they learn how to give me treats.  So far, they've learned that, when I sit and am calm, they need to give me a treat.  Today, I started teaching them a new command, "Off".  So, when I jump on them or on something, they're now learning to say "Off", at which point I'll sit, which is their cue to give me a treat.  Pretty cool, huh!?  Sometimes, they're not the fastest learners, but, hey, I still love them.  We'll try again tomorrow.

Here's the video of teaching humans the "Off" command:

Here's me and the katz working as a team to teach Mom how to give us all treats.

You can see us here talking over how to help her learn this quicker:

That's it for now.  Catch ya tomorrow!!
