Its a Smell-venture!

Since me and mom were still recovering from our race on Sunday, we just did a short hike yesterday.
Mom said it was too hyooooomid to do much.   Apparently, we don't usually get much hyooooomidity here.
Mom let me do a smell-venture, since we weren't out to cover a lot of miles today.  I got to stop and smell about anything I wanted, and she didn't hurry me along.
The smell-venture is cool, but sometimes I smell things...
...that are kinda scary!
What was that!?
Oh, just the forest talking.

Time Flies!!!

One year ago today, I did my first blog post.  You can view my first entry here.
Here's a couple of my first pictures:

I can't believe a year has gone by already.  It's been so nice having the support of fellow bloggers!

My Furrrst 5k!

Mom and dad said they were taking me to something called "Dogtoberfest" today.  I wasn't too thrilled to go anywhere this morning when I woke up to RAIN!!!  YUCK!  Then mom put my rain coat on me.
All right.  Guess we're going.  So we got to the place and it was still raining (shocking!)
We had to wait for a while until they got things set up.
Then I saw what we were doing.  It was my first race..a 5k!
And, like a Festivus miracle, the rain stopped!
Mom and dad got their race numbers and I got to stand around and look at a lot of butts.  I did get  lots of attention, so I shouldn't complain.
Mom was a little stressed about my first race.  I wasn't stressed cuz I knew I could win it.  Mom found out how much I wanted to win when I bolted out of the start.  Lucky for her I slowed down after the first mile so she could keep up.
I have to admit, I was a little tired at the finish.  But, the race people had water for me and doggie treats to replenish my energy.  Then we headed for this area that had 'adult beverages' for mom and dad, and plenty of water bowls for me and my fellow runner furriends.  I was trying to hid cuz I'm not old enuf to be in there.

Maybe if I just look confident, they won't ask for my ID.
Here we are inside the 'beer garden' (I never did see where they grew the beer).
I got a ton of attention from lots of people there.  I even ran into Darwin really quick.  Look how much less stressed mom looks now that the race is over.
I was so tired from the race and all the attention I got, I zonked all the way home!
Mom said we'll be able to do a couple more races next year.
I can't wait!!

Would I Make A Good Big Brother?

Me and mom went out for our lunch break to the dog park yesterday.
I ran into a little ridgeback mix right off the bat.
Then, this little bloke showed up:
He's an 11-week-old ridgeback named Drake.  He's a bold fellow, getting right into the mix with the big dogs.
Here's the 3 of us RR's playing (I'm the big one):
Mom said I did so well playing with that little tyke that, when we move to a place with more land, I might get a little brother.
I think I'd be a good older brother, don't you?

How Best Buds Greet Each Other

I was very excited to see Memphis arrive at the dog park:

Unfortunately, mom's getting really frustrated with the upload thingy, so she said she'd try again tomorrow.
You can see the video here.

Speak Softly and Carry a Big Stick!

Roxy met up with me and Memphis this morning.  She had quite the time teasing us boys with this big stick.
Here...let me help you carry an end.
Me too...

Of course, me and Memphis still got our training session in.

Hiking the Iron Horse Trail

On one of the less drippy days earlier this week, we all went walking on this long trail.
It was actually a nice day to be out walking.

We walked 3 miles out, 3 miles back.

Mom and dad wanted to walk in the tunnel:
But it was closed.  Maybe next year.

Nuthin' like muddy MMA trainin'!

I met up with Memphis this morning for our weekend MMA training:
(that's me in the pounce position on the hill)

This is my scary face.  Notice the strategic placement of my body under Memphis:

After perfecting our techniques on dry land, we moved to the water:

Memphis demonstrating the "spray the opponent in the face with water from the whole body shake" technique:

As you can see, it's a great sport for us dogs who like to get, as mom puts it, "disgustingly filthy":

Patriot Day

To me, today is a typical Saturday, starting off with a play session (aka MMA training) with Memphis.  Then we went to something called the 'K-9 Karnival'.
It was okay, but there weren't that many dogs around.  I did see a couple of furriends from daycare and the dog park, but honestly, it was a drag.
To mom, and a lot of humans, today is a special day that should never be forgotten.

Dreary, Drippy Day

Yesterday was our first really drippy day of Fall.
...is it Fall already?!
Sure feels like it here.
So, nothing to do but laze around the house, look out the window, and wait for someone to turn off the dripping.
Still dripping...
Yup, still dripping....
That got old fast.  Might as well take a little snooze.  Maybe when I wake up, the sun will be out!
